When I had the windshield replaced on my 99 Impretzle, it was about $230 installed. Never hurts to get a good deal :)

If it was older I would use the aftermarket ones but I am still having issues with my wife's 2009 BMW aftermarket windshield, so I just have to get it fixed and keep smiling, my Fathers day gift to myself;)

You have a 2011 subie, and don't have comprehensive? I have comp and glass coverage on my 96 miata... It only added like $50 a year, and now glass is free with no deductible. It already got me a 100% free top when my rear window split, and I am currently praying for a rock to crack the front window so that I can get a new one of those too.

My deductible is 500, I do not think it is worth putting in a claim

Totally worth it. You will save $300 if the windshield costs $800. Tell the agent that something shot from the car in front of you that was "unavoidable" and they cover it and can not raise your rates.

I was on the way to the track a few years ago and something shot from the semi next to me and put a nice size gouge in my bumper and it was replaced under comprehensive and no rate increase.

My agent told me that comp claims shouldn't raise your rate since they are not collision claims. Also, if you have comp already, you should look at glass coverage. For most companies it is a very small extra on top of comp coverage. (IIRC it was like $3-4 more per month) The reason that they do it that way, is glass coverage is essentially a deductible insurance on glass only...

Ok so the claim is in they will pay for anything over the $ 500 deductible
