V C Section 5200 Display of License Plates
Display of License Plates
5200. (a) When two license plates are issued by the department for use upon a vehicle, they shall be attached to the vehicle for which they were issued, one in the front and the other in the rear.
(b) When only one license plate is issued for use upon a vehicle, it shall be attached to the rear thereof , unless the license plate is issued for use upon a truck tractor, in which case the license plate shall be displayed in accordance with Section 4850.5.
Amended Sec. 27, Ch. 594, Stats. 2003. Effective January 1, 2004.

Yep, they look attached to me.

Ahaha, so this means our 2006 MX-5 which only ever had a rear plate is fine.

Every car in California is issued two plates, whether or not there was a place for it is not relevant. You register a car, you get two, all there is to it. The vehicle issued one plate will have less than four wheels.

I was going to say stack em in the back till I read further in red. I only have one on my truck bought it used with one and with one it shall stay.
