Is it still closed from the 2 off the 210?

Krwy 04-14-2011 11:30 PM

This is from CalTrans website http://www.dot.ca.gov

What is the planned route?

A bit off topic, but hwy 39 had a section reopened. Anyone know from where-to-where?

Yes. It goes up just past that lake (forgot name), but not all the way through (and not for many years to come). I'd like to do it this year. The road is going to be new and the scenery up around the reservoirs must be nice.

Yeah, likes like we'll have to use the route we did last time. Sean or I will dig it out.

AARP 04-15-2011 12:03 PM

Err crap, forgot how far away this drive is. Changing my vote from later to middle.

silverscmustang 04-15-2011 12:07 PM

any time is good for me :)

The route was in the original post when we were deciding a day ;)

It was just the written directions....we are visual learners...we need the map !

The one that resulted in about half the group going to Palmdale last time? :smack:

I consider it an intelligence test. The directions couldn't be more clear and had a specific warning regarding that turn ;)

JMak 04-15-2011 02:59 PM

Looks like a good drive with some distance and some fun. I am voting for earlier rolling out at 10:30 or 11 would work great. Don't have to get up too early, besides I am lucky to be able to sleep in past 9am. Sucks getting older, remember the days of sleeping till the middle of the afternoon wasting away the day. :drink: GMR was great but I did not get home till 8pm.

AARP 04-15-2011 03:46 PM

Err, why does the facebook event say 8:30...:inout:

Had to set it for sometime and left it at default. Changed to 12:30 until further notice.

Not the map's fault ! I didn't grab a printed copy, and the lead car in our pack, lost his out the window !

dmark101 04-16-2011 03:38 PM

i'll declare myself a maybe for this one.

i usually like to wait until the winter closure is over and the full highway is open [usually near memorial day but since we had some late winter storms, who knows?], however the fire closure is apparently still in effect, so the proposed route is probably the best.

JMak 04-21-2011 06:29 AM

I love how on this site you there are only 16 votes so far for polling for the run so far, the thread never gets super long for the runs but 60 plus cars show up.

It gets cross posted on other car sites, and they have thier own threads. It is a great way to get the range of cars we do !

silverscmustang 04-21-2011 08:02 AM

and thats the best part of the motorgen cruises :D

sinaSRT-4 04-21-2011 10:23 AM

Best place to go all out for 45+ minutes. Last time I was there I got 26 MPG with 91 octane and some Torco--running WOT most of the time. Love this place.

silverscmustang 04-21-2011 10:32 AM

long time no see man :D hows the SRT-4?

Angeles Crest Highway (aka the 2 north) off the 210 has been closed since the station fire :-( Your back route should be fine as long as there isn't a really major storm close to the cruise day.

Vettezuki 04-23-2011 11:59 PM

Not entirely sure why, but Sean created a new thread for the cruise. It's here:
