RET Dyno day

Big thanks to RET for an awesome dyno day! Good turn out, a lot of nice cars! Lets see some results from everyone that went...

I'll start with mine. The 5.slo put down 216hp and 279lb-ft tq

I'll post some pictures tomorrow!

Thanks again to Greg & RET

Great numbers for a stock 190,000 engine with bolt-ons. What was the AFR?

SeanPlunk 04-10-2010 11:01 AM

Damn, very impressive Eric! Sorry I couldn't make it down early - my father in law is driving in from Michigan to see the baby and I can't get out until later.

eric97srad 04-10-2010 11:05 AM

thanks Sean! and no biggie - I'll be @ Nick's tonight!

there's definitely a lot of power here today! seen a few pulls into the 400's!

Those are good number and since those motors are so cheap to upgrade I am sure you will be over 300 in no time.

He's already been thinking about rebuilding the engine and putting in a Lunati cam I gave his brother and buying some aluminum heads.

Do it Eric - that would definitely wake the car up :D

How much does your car weigh, like 3000lbs? It would take much to make it go very fast...

BRIAN 04-10-2010 11:32 AM

Nice meeting you Eric and awesome dyno!

I had fun also, the guys there were a bit confused with the Toyota haha but overall was great. I only put down 282HP with 337ft-lb, much more than I projected though so I'm happy :)

RiSSa 04-10-2010 11:32 AM

WTf it's over already!?

Great #'s! How many lbs of boost?

BRIAN 04-10-2010 12:02 PM

14psi on stock turbo.

eric97srad 04-10-2010 12:05 PM

still going, if anybody still wants to come. there's a lot of cars here

silvein 04-10-2010 02:48 PM

204/140 on my S2K. Seems a little low compared to that crowd though :)

That's right were it should be though taking into account drivetrain loss.

mustangray 04-10-2010 03:32 PM

Big thanks to Greg and everyone at RET they were bust'n them out two at a time so there wasn't much of wait.
I was trying out a new tune but it didn't do much it was the same as my old one except a bit leaner so i put the old tune back in, so here are my numbers
518.68hp 516.97tq

BADDASSC6 04-10-2010 03:45 PM

Nice numbers! So what's the deal with the 6 hours harmonic balancer install Eric???? Ron said he basiclly tore his car down completely and rebuilt the whole thing in the same amount of time:lmfao:.

No, it was already tore torn. I just had to put it all back together.

BADDASSC6 04-10-2010 04:10 PM

Whammy!:picard:

eric97srad 04-10-2010 07:52 PM

experience is key, right? I'll get there someday, I've just never really done much on my own - always had Ron or my dad to help me (read: do the work for me). This car will basically be my entire learning experience on racing and performance upgrades.

don't you pay people to do all your work?

mdpalmer 04-10-2010 08:16 PM

That was a great setup, they have a really awesome shop. My car put down 298 whp/257 wtq, subsequent pulls were less thanks to heat soak. One more reason why N/A motors are more consistent... anyway: here are a couple of vids.

The other cars, just some of them

My car

EDIT: one thing I want to say: I really love the sound that comes out of the supercharged Cobras. Frikken badass, nuff said :) 'Nother thing: a stock ZO6 that makes 440+ whp running rich is pretty crazy too...

BRIAN 04-11-2010 12:02 AM

Cool vid but little confused when it shows 212whp after my Supra. I put down 282whp.

Leedom 04-11-2010 12:37 AM

Saw some nice cars there today. I was not planning on running but wanted to see if my tune was lean or rich to adjust it. Turns out I was running about 13.5 AF. I added some fuel and I am not sure if what I am hearing is knock anymore as Sean could not hear what I was hearing. I might even be imagining things now. I did put down 290hp and 305tq which is about a 20 point increase on each with my Xcal3.

It depends what work is getting done. I do my own suspension and brake work because I go through it so much at the track. Motor work is different. I go through a motor every few years. I would rather have someone who has built dozens of the same motor machine and assemble it than do it myself. 12 years ago (wow) when I was rolling my Procharged GT I did some motor assembly (top end), but with a parts bill of $12K (current build) I have to know it will last. Plus I really don't have time, but I do have money. That's why I went to college.

This concludes the Baddassc6 public service announcement. Kids stay in school!

SoCalC55 04-11-2010 10:59 AM

Good seeing everyone again (even though my numbers mysterously went down :bang:)
312 --> 309hp
328 --> 313tq

Sorry, I went back thru all of the video I captured and I didn't add those clips that showed the higher hp, my mistake. I'll fix the video and upload the new one probably today or tomorrow. Your dyno chart had a weird bump up top, what made it do that? Good #'s man. Are you on stock turbo?

That's what uncles are for. I enjoy helping you out. You'll get quicker with experience. I just couldn't resist giving you a hard time. Again, that's what uncles are for.

I don't think that is my chart at all, the lowest I made was 263hp. Thanks and yes stock turbo :)

Vettezuki 04-11-2010 12:33 PM

Go here for videos. More to come.

Chuck 04-11-2010 01:12 PM

I am kinda bumbed I couldent get a Torque reading because unlike the rest of you I don't run on spark plugs. So I went for just a HP run and it was only like half of what I expected 290 HP. I don't know if he let off when the duct blew apart or somthing else happend, but his shop was subjected to quite a bit of black smoke. All in all it was a great time Greg is a very cool guy shop was clean and frendly. See ya next time.

Haha, I saw that. I got on tape the tail end of the duct getting blown out. It kind of sounded like he let off a little early, but what do diesels rev to? They make a shitton more torque than hp from what I understand...

That's kind of strange that they couldn't get a tq reading though, that's what the dyno measures (and hp calc'd from tq). Do you mean you couldn't get an RPM reading? At least they could have recorded the tq/hp vs. time.

Anyone else scan their dyno sheets in? I managed to grab the dynojet runfiles so I could make the plots myself, annotate them, etc... here's mine. Total oddball wankel, I'm not making 400+ whp like some of you maniacs, but it's still fun :) I really need to clean up my fuel map, it's too rich and erratic. Lost some boost up top too and timing is backed off a couple * up top... was hoping to hit 260-270 tq/310-320 whp. Man I'm full of excuses :)
