Palomar November 13, 2010

[EDIT: Vettezuki - 11/5 02:17 PDT]

Ok, unless a bunch of you throw full scale nancy-boy fits, we're going to make our inaugural Palomar Mountain Circuit.

Meet at A (see maps below) at 4:00 pm.

Regardless of what final route we choose, we will start at A.

WARNING: If you're coming from North Orange County, and certainly South OC, you're probably better off taking the 5 south and cutting over to the 15 using Ortega (bonus!). Check back at the top of this thread for updates.

Details subject to change. But it'll be something like this.

I think this is possibly (according to curves on map) a more interseting variant.

===========================
OP
What do we want to do next month gentlemen? GMR is the best run, but we do it so often. Turnbull is cool, but very short. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

How about something like this. This would be a lot more convenient for our IE folks. It's not that long, or too short. It's not like a full mountain loop, but includes some great roads and we've never done it.

R3AL.CH1CK3N 10-25-2010 04:04 PM

Am I the only one that likes to drive Palomar Mountain?.. If you guys are interested, That's always a nice drive.

Shaolin Crane 10-25-2010 04:30 PM

Gmr! Gmr! Gmr! Gmr! Gmr!

Teddy 10-26-2010 05:50 PM

Sean is in deep thought. I'm down for it. It's not so close for those of us coming from North OC, but it isn't terrible either. Any good eating places to end up at?

Teddy 10-27-2010 08:36 AM

Im coming from way down south myself...Imperial beach to be exact...Once you get into the heart of palomar, and keep heading into towar julian there are plenty of places to eat...I don't know really...If we took the route coming back out and ended up where we started we could just eat there just before everybody splits to go there own way home...I don't know just a thought...

Normally we meet up at the 15 & 76. The route we take is right below.

There are a couple videos on my youtube page.

Thank look like a nice way to burn off a full tank of gas! Maybe we can stop in Julian and get an apple pie!

R3AL.CH1CK3N 10-28-2010 07:00 AM

Yeah, that would be nice. I feel like one more cruise before i hit up the track on the 20th.

Sounds good to me.

Okay, the Palomar cruise is possible, but I'm just nervous because I won't have time to prerun it. Also, I probably won't be able to go. I'm busy on the 6th, 7th, 13th(normal cruise day), and the 21st, and then I'm out of town in Florida the following weekend.

What day would you want to go? I can still organize it even if I'm not going.

jedhead 10-29-2010 11:01 PM

I can only go on the 13th and 27th.

REAL3.CH1CK3N seems to know the run. Let's do it. *Hopefully* my injectors will be back and I'll be retuned by then, but I can go in any case.

I just ran Palomar tonight. Road is clean, and hell of a lot of fun, even though it was a blind night run, the first time I've seen the road.

SoCalC55 11-01-2010 08:18 PM

Palomar would be alot of fun, especially since we havent gone that far south

Unless Sean is struck by a mystical vision, I think it's pretty much settled. I want to do something different. The people are crying out.

It's happening, I'm just trying to figure out a date. Leedom and I are buried this month so you guys might be led by Vettezuki.

You can stay home and play with your Barbies if you like.

My problem with the 13th is might *not* have my injectors and retune done by then.

lol I may just do that, Candice needs her hair combed anyway!

:leaving:

on a serious note if we need to push back another weekend the extra time may help plan an exact route and give everyone ample notice

I guess there's a first time for everything. . :inout:

R3AL.CH1CK3N 11-03-2010 08:51 PM

Well, I should be there and I know the route.. If for some reason I cant make it, you can always just look at the links i posted up a couple pages back..

See OP. Whattaya think? Is that BBQ joint at the end passable? I wouldn't expect to much from something isolated like that, but I wouldn't want to drive back with a gut bomb either. ;)

SeanPlunk 11-05-2010 09:20 AM

I can't make it (nor can Leedom), but take pictures for me :)

This route is "ok" but there will always be a ton of traffic unless we go latter at night

blackax 11-05-2010 10:06 AM

I'm down with Palomar.....Crap I need new tires

kdracer73 11-05-2010 10:57 AM

Frankie and I are IN ! :drive:

jedhead 11-05-2010 12:33 PM

I am in. I drove part of that route with the Probe club's r twist-o-rama.

This one is out. We're doing Palomar. See OP.

Vettezuki 11-06-2010 08:28 PM

A family issue has unexpectedly come up and I most likely like won't be able to make the 13th. This means there would be no Motorgen "staff" representation. This certainly doesn't mean you guys can't make it happen on your own, but please see poll and let us know your preferences before we promote out to other car sites (if Sean hasn't already).

jedhead 11-06-2010 10:03 PM

13th or 27th for me. I already have plans for the 20th that I can't get out of. I have driven the Palomar route several times and its a great drive.

Bob

blackax 11-07-2010 10:04 AM

THe 13 works best for me. I think i could do the 27 but i'll have to check on somethings

SoCalC55 11-07-2010 10:19 AM

Later may be better. With 6 days and no defined meeting location or route (plus i think an earlier start would be better). We'd be better off going the 20, 27 or make Palomar the December event

Chuck 11-07-2010 11:48 AM

Can't go 13 or 20 but I think 27 is better.

Starting point is defined. See OP. A = starting point.

As for routes there's only two small variants.

As for time it could start earlier. What do you suggest?

blackax 11-07-2010 03:23 PM

I think we can still do this run...I however dont think many people will show up because the main motorgen guys arent gonna be there. I can see if there is any good places to eat near the end of the run and post back up here

Well I'm flattered that my presence is such a draw, but I'm still leaning heavily to sticking to the 13th. I just really like some consistency in dates for events and we've been pretty good about the every second saturday thing.

The end of the routes is a BBQ joint. I don't know anything about it.

Sonic03SVT 11-07-2010 09:17 PM

Im going to probably have the trans out of the Z that weekend, so I may be a no-show on this one as well. ( Even if I dont, i'm not sure i'd be going, not real keen on a canyon run with a sick trans :bang: ) Should certainly be squared away by the 27th, which was my preference, but should you folks decide to go on the 13th ill do my best to make it. If not, have fun, be safe as always! :drink:
