Considering whether I chose the wrong profession since I took a day off of lawyering to spray. Haha

Someone stole the fog light bezel covers, and theyre like $80 a pop used... so I ground down the cover mounting holes and filled them in to paint the area black.

I tried a trick I learned on the autobody forums this time. Mixed a bit of color in with the white epoxy primer so it wont look so bad when it chips.

Blacked out fog lights and side markers

Color match is pretty damn close! Fenders match the bumper closer than the factory painted hood matches the factory painted fenders! Haha

Did the same thig with the blue car, still shows in a few spots though :(

Does it look better though?

How much to paint a truck?

enkeivette 01-24-2013 08:58 AM

Do you have a place to paint it? Are you buying the paint? Full size or mid size? Door jambs?

Also, it would have to be sanded. I dont have the time anymore to sand an entire body.

Not really in my case, paint is too dark and we couldn't add too much to the primer or it would have altered the color.

You trying to paint your Duramax? Whats wrong with the paint job?? It looked good to me

Leedom 01-26-2013 06:22 PM

That looks really good Adam. One of these days I am going to have to get together with you and get my fiberglass fenders shaped and painted. I am sure you can teach me a lot.

enkeivette 01-27-2013 12:20 PM

Aw shucks, not much to teach really. Body work is only a product of how much time youre willing to invest in sanding.

Sand, filler, sand, filler, repeat.

You can kind of see how the color is off in the 2nd pic, but not bad for matching ten year old paint. I dont think you can tell unless you look for it.

Shaolin Crane 01-27-2013 10:30 PM

I think if you lightly cut and buff the old paint it'll match better

enkeivette 01-29-2013 12:15 PM

Im not a fan of cutting and buffing. I never color sanded my vette. Id rather deal with the lack of show shine and have twice as much clear coat to take off when I get a scratch.

I am pretty sure I can paint the fenders but I would like to line the gaps and the top of the fender where it meets the hood better and I think I will have to do some fiberglass work as well. Just want someone who has done this stuff before to be there for my first time.

Might want to be careful saying "my first time" around Adam :jester:

enkeivette 01-30-2013 05:35 PM
