"Tour d' Orange", 1-1-2011, vids.

“Tour d’ Orange" 2012, info added.

http://mustangforums.com/forum/calif...ge-cruise.html

This was a great event, how many cars? I don't know for sure but it was 200 to 300 easy, it was a beautiful California New Years Day, great people and good times.
Link to video posted up on the event, part 1 & 2 with the long version on part 1 for some of the cruise route.

http://wn.com/Tour_d'Orange_2011_Pt_1
http://wn.com/Tour_d'Orange_2011_Pt_2

I got on the film pt. 1, at 8:34 min, (Silver G37S GT intake) for a very brief moment & a bit of my blow off can be heard just before the engine rev from the black car behind me made the audio track.

Take care all and have a wonderful & safe 2011.

January 1st 2011, 8th Annual 2010 Tour d’Orange attracts over 350 vehicles,
& all cars are welcome.Bench Racing and Newport Shelby host the "Tour d Orange" every New Years Day which highlights the best scenic tour of Orange County. Now a Southern California tradition for many and arguably the first car event of the New Year. The near 100 miles cruise encompasses Pacific Coast Highway, Canyons Carving and beautiful picturesque valleys.
Meet at the corner of Fisher and Redhill in Costa Mesa. Arrive by 8:30 AM, maps at 8:45 AM, DEPART AT 9:00 AM. This scenic drive will take approximately 2 hours and terminate at the In N Out Burger at “The District” in Tustin.Thank you all for your good behavior which enables us to continue sponsoring this fun event.

Sounds like Lots-O-Fun.

Take care all & have a happy holiday season.

I saw it too at the tour, there was to many cool cars to list there

kdracer73 01-03-2011 10:35 AM

After watching the vids, Frankie and I are in next year !

GTTS > Some 01-03-2011 05:02 PM

This was a nice event.

This event was a fun ride; our MG events are a bit more involved, and more in spirit. It was different from a MG roll -- a lot more cars and more on the easy side. I hope to see you there in 2012 (these 20+ numbers are wow). I found this on another board, it's an open cruise, do you think MG might be interested in a run to this event?

WWII birds are slick to say the least.

Take care and have a wonderful 2011.

Definately have to do this next year.

How long was the cruise and where did it end.

GTTS > Some 01-04-2011 06:22 AM

"Tour d' Orange" distance??

Not sure how far we went but the route took approximately 2 hours with a mini tour of south county. It started in Costa Mesa @ Redhill & Fischer to the 73, PCH, Laguna Beach, Laguna Canyon, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Santiago Canyon then finished at The District in Irvine.

injdinjn 01-04-2011 02:45 PM

From watching the video and the way they controlled the start it appears to be well organized. That's definitely a plus

GTTS > Some 01-05-2011 07:09 PM

Yes it was very very organized.

The guys that staged us up at Tour d' Orange were on point and very fun to get along with, great people they are, they put everyone in the mood to roll out clean and happy. It was a fantastic event, it would be a neat MG roll for 2012, I hope it will be considered by MG as a destination, rolling with MG is the best.

Take care all.:)

silverscmustang 11-08-2011 08:22 AM

ya I saw Ray's post last year on the mustang forums and would love to make it this year.

mustangray 11-08-2011 08:41 AM

January 1st 2012 the 9th Annual “Tour d’Orange”. A two hour tour of some of Orange County’s best two lane roads. Arguably the first car event of the year. Stay tuned.
I usually find info at benchracing.com

Well, I do know that much now... trying to nail down a time, so I can post it with 3 other clubs.

Tour-d-Orange

This was the last Tour-d-Orange (1-1-2011) run data posted, I would guess it would be the same as the last four years based on previous pics and postings. The good point is that a post was sent stating it was on for 2012. Link: http://saleenforums.soec.org/index.php
More information.
Meet at the corner of Fischer and Redhill in Costa Mesa. This is near John Wayne/Orange County Airport, South of I-405 and East of the 55 freeway.
Arrive by 8:00 AM, maps at 8:45 AM, DEPART AT 9 AM. The route will take approximately 2 hours and terminate at the In N Out Burger at "The District" in Tustin.

For the 2011 run I arrived at approximately 0730 and the muster point was stuffed full on all the surrounding streets. A few other peeps there had stated they had been there since sun up, lots to see. More smiles than miles, so I'm in for a dark run out. Hope this data update helps out, take care and have a great holiday.

Thanks, that helps a lot...gonna tell every body to get up EARLY, to make the most of it. Frankie will be in Vegas, so shotgun is open if some one wants to ride along.

This is how I posted it on my other groups.
So we can roll in together, I think we should make it a 7am meet time.....At Bristol and Baker there is a shopping center called The Camp, behind the Chevron gas station. We could just turn right on Baker and then right on Redhill.
