Ideas for Growing Motorgen
The idea was simple. Create a website that was not connected to make or model, but love of cars . . . all of them. (Or at least mutual respect.)
We've been around since 2006, and while we have a fair bit of traffic and lots of lurkers, we'd really like to grow our real user base. What kinds of things could we do to further our mission? |
Get all our cars running?

Make a chapter in Northern California dag nab it! Sure could use one... Motorgen is a lot like Davis Motor Sports Club but I wouldn't mind helping create something that not school affiliated. A good amount of members but they are primarilly students, A motorgen chapter up here would coinside with Davis Motor sports and probably get more members from Sac and the bay area once word gets around... just an idea anyways... :D

To that end, we could change the "Southern California Events" section to just California, or something like that. Also, you're more than welcome to "represent" up in NorCal if you like. Give me some ideas on how you think it might work to appeal to the folks up there. |
For Nor Cal you got to change it to Hella Acceleration!!! :rolling:

For you Hooter fans we can get a run at Hooters. The last time I went, my brother in law and I took my 15 year old nephew and my ex-wife's son with us. I bought them both a souvenir set and watched the girls tease them to death signing their T-Shirts. My ex's son had trouble looking at faces.

You mean like, how could you get multiple friends of each member to join?! Um, piggy back on facebook.
Unlike Myspace, facebook seems to be hacker proof enough that the site will not be failing because of unwanted spam creating disinterested users. So in my opinion it is here to stay for a while. Even on oyez.org (a site I go on with court case summaries) there is an option to like cases. You know how I write "Adam likes this" jokingly, make that a real option. When people see, that Adam likes... this post on motorgen, and that post on motorgen, they click the link on facebook and that post catches their interest... they too have something to say, and what do you know? They join motorgen. |
|
You see, I tell my friends about Motogen, but none of them sign up. If my redneck friend were to see that Adam likes the post "Mopar sucks" or "Open carry law unconstitutional" I think it will be hard for him to resist clicking the link, reading, and signing up to offer his opinion.

Excellent point. I'll have to check if there's a plugin for our version of vBulletin.

Btw... I left the sticker on the car. If you want Ben, stick a white one in the mail and I'll put it on my Jeep! Free advertising in the Padres Parkade everyday! |
See I hate stickers, but i could deal with a motorgen license plate frame
|
