GMR - April 10, 2011

The meet point will be at a Kohl's in Upland with a very large parking lot. The address for Kohl's is:

1923 N Campus Ave
Upland, CA 91784

This puts us only about 5 miles or so from the beginning of the run. The total distance for the entire cruise is 43.3 miles. It should last about an hour and a half total. Once we finish the run the meeting point will be at La Tolteca.

Meet time at the Kohl's in Upland at 2:45p.m. We will leave the lot at 3:30p.m. We should arrive for dinner between 5 and 5:30p.m.

Here is the route we are taking. I will have directions for everyone at the Kohl's and will hand them out before we leave. The drive is a lot of fun and the views are pretty incredible. See you all on the 10th!!!

What exactly is GMR?

Here's some vid from the last go round.

It is basically a road that is so stupid and dangerous that it is a blast. It is about a lane and a half wide and both directions of traffic use the same road with no center divider. Very dangerous but by far the best route imo. Basically you will have a blast on this run as long as you have the balls. I can't say if i'm in for this one or not yet though.

Haha what a great description. How often do you actually pass someone going the other direction? The videos make me want to go jump in my car and go down mulholland haha.

You might pass one or two cars on the way up...its kind of rare

They do have some....But it is a very scary road if its your first time. so that is mostly enough to keep most people inline.

I have only been once and only 1 person came the other direction and it was a Harley. So it isn't likely someone will be around that next corner but you just never know, thats what makes it so exciting. :pot_stir:

We've only had one head on collision so far and it wasn't that bad. . . :leaving:

Haha if only all CHP were understanding like that guy. Looks like that was a huge turn out! I'm going to try to make it to this meet.

I was that one and the meeting could have been worse... for him. A dumbass on a Harley thought it would be a good idea to ride on our side of the road and met my fender. Thankfully he was ok. Too bad he decided to say it was my fault.

That is too bad. What did the insurance company say?

I can't make it. I will be at the Fords Forever Show @ Knotts Berry Farm.

We'll be rolling from the afternoon . . just say'n.

LOL if I get that close to Knotts and don't take my step-son in, he'll never let it go. He's 7. But well see I might not go unless I get a few more things for the car to make it show worthy.

I'm afraid not. If a bunch of people asked for it, then we'd consider (though I'd be out of town on Saturday). It's mostly an effort to create a real predictable pattern and following a calendar.

My insurance sided with me of course. They reported no fault for me to the state so that would not go against my record. They said they would have to take it to arbitration more than likely.

Yeah. I can't drive both the Mach and the Notch at the same time, so one has to go.

We typically don't start GMR cruises until later in the afternoon. It will probably be possible to do both if you feel like punishing yourself :bigthumbsup:
