GMR Cruise/Run, Sunday 2-10-13

Well with Vettezuki busy right now I figured I could try setting up the next gtg/drive. I figured this should be a good drive, Mt Baldy to Glendora Ridge Rd, down GMR to E. Fork and then down San Gabrial Canyon to La Tolteca Mexican restaurant if anyone wants to grab a bite. Meet up at 930 to be driving by 10. Check posted address for meetup spot. Its the same lot we usually meet at for the gmr drive, Kohls dept store lot. Hope to see a nice group since the last drive was fun.

Meet Spot/Time:
930am meet up, 10am head out
Kohls parking lot
1923 North Campus Ave. Upland,

Link to route:
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=1...via=1&t=m&z=12

Side note: This is a "spirited" drive. We go fast enough to have a fun drive but its not a race track. No donuts or burnouts (John Force type) at the top of GMR either please. Cops already know about the younger guys in imports that go up there driving wrecklessly but are usually cool with mature enthusiasts on nice drive. Lets keep it like that. Just use good judgement and careful on blind curves.

Thats the center where my dojo is. I'm not sure if there will be adequate parking even on a sunday.

And the starbucks is inside the Vons, not a separate building.

Yeah I know about the Starbucks. Just letting people know theres some coffee there if they want some in the morning.. Ive driven by on Sundays and always see plenty of parking, usually.

C5Natie 01-27-2013 10:35 PM

The parking spots facing Baseline are usually open and Baseline itself is open for street parking in front of the shopping center.

Shaolin Crane 01-27-2013 11:11 PM

Also remember that parking lot is not lowered car friendly. The back entrance that goes behind the Vons sorta is. But the 2 front ones I had my truck scrape the running boards.

Vettezuki 01-27-2013 11:24 PM

Thanks Nate. Once you have it all settled. I'll push to the other sites and FB. I just can't plan or attend much right now.

No problem man, thanks. Only question is the parking but Ill get that sorted quick. Hope to see you out there soon.

Is your heart set on this meet-spot or are you open to an alternative? (1923 North Campus Ave. Upland, CA 91784)

I was gonna check it out today. I thought of it because it right down the street from Mt Baldy Rd. Ill let you guys know this afternoon.

Redondo Jon 01-31-2013 10:32 PM

Tap, tap, tap...

Shaolin Crane 02-01-2013 08:51 AM

Hmmm. If I can hunt down my misfire issue I might actually make it.

C5Natie 02-02-2013 12:15 AM

Sorry Jon, havent been able to check out that parking spot yet but i should tomorrow.

Redondo Jon 02-02-2013 03:58 PM

You don’t have to check it out unless you feel compelled. Sean found it & it’s the one that we always use for GRM. I was just wondering if you’d be willing to consider it as an alternative; either way I’m still going.

I dont mind if thats the spot people are familiar with. Do they go up mt baldy rd or up mountain ave when they meet there?

Redondo Jon 02-04-2013 07:15 PM

Here’s the route I’m most familiar with:
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=19...=h&mra=ls&z=12
If you zoom in on the map & look at “A” see that long row of parking spaces just to the left of Kolh’s? That’s where we usually hang out before this run.

Small White Car 02-05-2013 12:46 PM

Gee, look what now resides at either end of Glendora Ridge Road.

That leaves it open for some pretty broad definitions if you ask me...

C.V.C 23103 (a) A person who drives a vehicle upon a highway in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.

C.V.C. 23109.2. (a) (1) Whenever a peace officer determines that a person was engaged in any of the activities set forth in paragraph (2), the peace officer may immediately arrest and take into custody that person and may cause the removal and seizure of the motor vehicle used in that offense in accordance with Chapter 10 (commencing with Section 22650). A motor vehicle so seized may be impounded for not more than 30 days.

Enjoy but be aware.

C5Natie 02-05-2013 01:32 PM

Yeah I saw those signs yesterday. Saw a sheriff patrol car but theyre cool. Theyre looking for the kids in the ricers hauling ass up there. I go for a "spirited" drive but I dont act like its a race track. In fact there was some forestry fire guys working on GRR, I slowed down they waved me thru with a thumbs up including a deputy. They know people go up there to drive just as long as youre careful.

Post it up. I think we're set.

Ok we'll meet there. I put it in the OP. Since ppl on other forums are used to that spot as well we'll keep it there.

Redondo Jon 02-05-2013 04:45 PM

Sounds good. We’ve encountered both the Sheriff and Highway Patrol up there before & they’ve been cool, so far. I think as long as we’re respectful we shouldn’t have any problems. Interesting sign though; maybe they’ve been getting complaints from locals. You’re leading, right Natie? :D

firstshadow 02-05-2013 06:54 PM

Won't be making this one, it lands on my fiancee's bday.

Have fun, safe drive!

They had like 2 cars go over the side in the last 6 months or so. Im sure that warranted the signs. Some guys go up there at night hauling tail and trust me you cant see up there at night.

I dont mind leading, I hope I dont hold anyone back. Lol.

Hopefully you make the next one. Im looking at Mullholland maybe.

Redondo Jon 02-06-2013 08:21 AM

Hey Natie you changed the instructions for the meet spot but didn’t change the map; the routes’ a bit different than the original post.

Vettezuki 02-06-2013 09:42 AM

Is the OP accurate? If so, and I have time I'll push out to 30+ sites and FB tonight. Little late, but you'll still get some pick ups.

C5Natie 02-07-2013 03:07 PM

Some shower forecasted for Friday but the weekend should be nice with clear skies. See you guys there.

C5Natie 02-08-2013 11:26 AM

Vettezuki, were you able to post it up?

No. But I will tonight.

Redondo Jon 02-08-2013 06:43 PM

We’re sure the road’s still open… My house this morning:

Vettezuki 02-08-2013 07:05 PM

Please advise. I ttakes me well over an hour to properly push out to all the sites and another hour or so to respond to initial (typical) responses. I don't mind as long as you still intend to do this.

Redondo Jon 02-08-2013 07:59 PM

I know it’s getting a little close huh? I’ll be going if the skies clear. Umm… Judging by C5Naties language I’d say yes to posting elsewhere but maybe with the caveat: Weather permitting. I don’t know. Natie, help.

Snowed in claremont yesterday, fun.

C5Natie 02-09-2013 09:58 AM

Yes the road is still open. The rain up here was on and off yesterday. Its has all day today to dry up. Its still on for tomorrow. If theres any wetness its usually on GRR. GMR and East Fork are usually dry.

Touge Monster 02-09-2013 12:33 PM

Hey everyone. How strict is the 10am head out time? I have work that day and the earliest I'd be able to get there is around 10:15-10:20ish. I'm jut asking so I know whether to head to the kohls parking lot (if you guys tend to lag it a little), or if not, I'll just catch up with everyone at the three road split.

C5Natie 02-09-2013 03:44 PM

We usually wait a few minutes, 10-15, for everyone especially if we know someone's on the way.

C5Natie 02-09-2013 04:02 PM

A friend went up last night. There was a evo and some bikes with them. There was some snow on mt baldy but he said it was a good drive. If a bike goes up there then we should be alright. Lol
