94cobra69ss396's Next Project: 1964 F100
Now that the Explorer's V8 conversion is done and Eric's donor Explorer is out of the driveway I have room to start my next project which is my wife's 1964 Ford F100. It was purchased new in 1964 by her grandfather who gave it to her father just before he passed away in 1981. Her dad gave it to her in 1992 but it didn't run. It has been sitting in his back yard since then.
Plans are to sand it down and prep it for paint. We are planning to paint it red and white in the factory style two tone design. For the powertrain I have a 1995 BBC 454 and TH400 that both have 16,000 miles on them. I don't plan to do anything to the engine besides change the intake so I can run a Holley 750 carb. The engine came out of a motor home so I think it should make plenty of torque. Here's how she looks today. |
I've been seeing a ton of older trucks like that look good.
|
Awesome! I love me some old trucks. I especially like old Jeep trucks.
|
Me too. We're excited to get started on it and I hope to get it done fairly quickly. My wife and I started dating back in July of 1994 and it has just been sitting at her dad's house this whole time. I'm going to start disassembly and sanding tomorrow after work. It is going to be a family project, her dad wants to be involved and this will be the vehicle my oldest daughter who is now 11 will be driving when she is 16.

But a Chevy engine in a Ford??
|
Yep. I have two Fords with Ford engines and two Chevys with Chevy engines. I couldn't make it uneven so I'm putting a Chevy engine in a Ford truck.
|
That's hot rodding.

Your daughter's first car is going to have a 454? You are the best dad ever!
