Howdy

I've been following a couple of threads here for a few weeks. Thought I'd sign up and say hello!

My fun is a vette that I picked up a few years back that keeps draining my bank account.

God, that's beautiful. The paint looks perfect :hail:

I need engine details

Thanks for the compliment.

Engine is the stock 454 bored 30 over. Forged bottom end, rebuilt heads, hyd roller custom cam, stock qjet, DUI ignition. About 480hp and 532tqe at the crank. Pretty nice lope to it.

Sounds pretty stout. Have you run it at a track at all? What do you think the approx. curb weight is?

SmokinBBC 01-18-2009 05:43 PM

No track yet...the trailing arms are shot. New ones going in along with half shaft/drive shaft safety loops.

It is pretty stout. That torque immediately plants you back in the seat. Scares the hell of out passengers:D

Haven't weighed it yet. But, it will be close to stock weight.

That is one purty Vette. You're going to need some real tires under the rear at the track though.

But I ain't through roasting these yet:D

Just checked out your timeslip area....that is pretty slick:thumbs_up:

Vettezuki, what are the rear tires that you were running on your drag video?

Stock size. 255/60x16 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial.

Here's the deal with our Vettes. Sticky tires make a difference for sure, BUT, unless you get weight transfer onto them it's only a moderate, not a huge difference. For example, I get about 3 tenths better in the 60' and a total 5 tenths with MTs over my street Nitto NT 450s. I'm running a VERY stiff suspension. I cannot launch all that hard and can spin my MTs even after heating them up good at like 13psi. You have massive torque, it might even be worse for you. No biggie at all if you just want to have some fun at the track, but if you really want to know what she'll run, a stiff suspension can be frustrating because you'll never be able to hit it hard at the tree, which is where all the magic is. Depends on what you want.

PS Thanks for the props on the TS area. We'll be making it a lot better looking and easier to use in the relatively near future.

Well, heck, you look like one of those dudes from that "OUTLAW" forum.
