Escort 9500ci Radar Detector Install

Uhh…hey guys. You were just supposed to repair the flat tire I brought you.

Okay, now you’re just pissing me off.

Alright seriously, here’s what I’ve been up to. Installing this:

I was surprised by the size of some of this stuff.

An inside view of the front bumper. The radar receiver is mounted on top and the laser shifters are on the bottom.

Backlit, you can kind of see the receiver but when the bumper’s on the car you can’t see it at all.

I hadn’t removed the cellophane from the rear laser shifter yet.

Not a good shot but here’s where the controls and the monitor ended up. The powered speaker is under the dash / foot well so I don’t have a shot of that. Anyway, it’s done & it works so I’m happy.

sweet... so you are going to be leading the train in all the meets now then?

By the way, is this the one that can jam all the radar and lasers and shit? I want Ronald Reagan's star wars defense program shit for my car.

I know my Valentine One has kept me out of hot water on a few occasions.

No, it doesn’t jam radar it just alerts you to the fact that you’re being “painted.” Radar jammers don’t work and are illegal in all states. If a manufacturer is claiming they can jam radar, they’re lying. However, it does blind lasers but here in California that’s illegal too. I’m sort of skirting / scoffing at the law. Yeah, I don’t mind leading our cruises sometimes but I still think Leedom does a better job.

Yea but do they have a way to verify that you are jamming their laser? Here in Cali they all use lasers now I think. Radar is too broad of an area and hits more than one car sometimes. What is the fine on a laser jammer device? In the long run its cheaper if its not a moving infraction. That way your insurance doesn't go up and stuff (just speculating there). I'm sure they will try and be dicks about it as they usually do.

What happens when the laser shifters are turned on is that the “laser gun” gets no reading at all. That, in and of itself, may generate some suspicion on the officers part if you’re the only car on the road at the time. As far as penalty’s go, it’s a misdemeanor if you’re using one of these things and I’m guessing there’s a provision in the law that if you’re found guilty you’d have to remove it. My opinion is: Police shouldn’t be used for revenue generating purposes. I don’t mind them protecting public safety (that’s a blanket statement) but positioning themselves in a particular area, like toward the bottom of a hill, specifically to generate fines from speeding tickets I think is uncalled for.

Ahhh I understand now.

And I agree about the cops. Go keep murderers, rapists, thieves, and drug dealers off the streets.
