New Ride!

1984 Mazda Rx-7 GSL 1.1 liter rotary. Yes 1.1 liter. It has 226,606 miles on the original motor and it is still going, just not very strong. Picked it up for 500 bones. This car will be a very slow project and will be an autox car. Fully caged, +/- 2300 lbs., 200-300 whp(not sure yet), basically a full race car.

Good luck with the new project.

Thank you! We can't wait to start on it. We plan on taking it slow and doing everything right even if it takes years to build it. Basically a weekend project for me to start learning more about engines, suspension, geometry of cages, etc.

I like the first gens a lot.

I'm 50/50 but my dad and mom love them.

We got it running today. Replaced the fuel pump and cleaned out some clogged hard lines and it started right up. Before it would only stay running if we poured fuel in the carb. It smokes and doesn't have much oil pressure but with 226,000 miles on it we already knew we would be rebuilding it.

i love 1st gens

Hey man. I love 1st gens. Not sure if you remember me, but I have a silver FD I saw you on a cruise with the rx7club a while back.

But the 1st gens... they have a very special place in my heart as that was the first car I ever drove that was "fun". My mom used to have one, it was in terrible shape... but it actually ran great. I loved that car. Look forward to seeing the progress on this one. They are light as shit and handle great. The stock gearbox is sweet too. If you ever go to the speedventures events, you'll see a very nicely done silver one from time to time, it's a mazdatrix car. I think the owner/driver's name is mike.. he has a sick wagon too, rx3, and he puts FD stock wheels on it. He had that thing on buttonwillow in 2007 i'll see if I can get some pics of it.

I would love to have another one, and just keep it totally stock (well maybe with a 13b N/A :) ) with freshened up suspension, etc.
