Fun at the Ford Dealer

Just a little story for you guys.
Today I stoped by Huntington Beach Ford and asked them about a used 2012 Boss 302 they had. The Boss was missing the bottom stripe of both doors, had just over 1200. miles and had an Eibach adjustable strut/shock set up and a Bear 14" rear brake kit but no adjustable panhard thus pushing the rear out about a 1/4" on the driver side. (it also had dog hair inside and damp seats from what seems like a steam cleaning) but enough about the car , I asked about the car and a sales guy named Terry (old guy dyed black hair and stash you know the type) I ask him what happened to the car he said thats just the way the guy liked it and that it has over $10,000.in upgrades like Eibachs, so I asked (already know since I checked it out before he came out) what else was done and ofcourse I got no answer .
so I asked well how much ? "Oh it's on sale for $59,990.right now since new ones are about 8-10 grand above that "
I said well thats crazy for a used Boss with miles and I pointed out the panhard problem , so he asked well how much do you think you can get one for. So I told him I can get a new one for $42,000. then he got upset and ask from who! so I told him the guys at Puente Hill will get me one thats there regular price for one,his reply was "I use to run that shop and you go buy one then" as his abruptly walked away from me .
I don't know why some of these guys get so upset when it's not there way. don't you think they should be nice and polite even when they know they can't make a deal.

Win win or no deal and everyone walks away respectably is the ideal. Sometimes people at our business try to break our balls to the point of absurdity and just say "we're sorry, we're not able to help you." But you called BS on his BS, which he's probably not used to.

I guess, you know me I'm a pretty polite/respectful person. But I have to admit it was fun. so I walked away with a smile.
Not only that but I worked for a Ford dealer for a long time so I know some times they are stuck and can't move on the deal, but like you said all they have to say is I can't do it sorry. In which case I will just say thank you and move on to the next dealer that will work the deal

Damn, 42,000 for a boss? My dad might be interested in that...

lol I hate how at first shopping for a new car is fun and then guys like that take all the fun out of it. When I was looking for a 2011 they all tried to rip me off on the truck saying that they can only sell it as a base F-150, the Roush package doesnt count. The MSRP when the truck was new was about $58,000 and they were trying to get it for $16,000. The only place that understood that it was a Roush therefore worth more was Galpin. But the salesman there was trying to push me to buy from their inventory instead of ordering it the way I wanted it. Trying to convince me black was the way to go instead of silver. He was saying things like "you know the Mustangs black is the only true black that Ford makes" and "35% of cars on the road are silver" which I later found out that for 2010 it was silver 26% and black 24%. So I got my deposit back and went to Power Ford and ordered silver. Saved a couple thousand too over Galpins price.

Galpin can be really cheap or really expensive, mostly the latter

I recently test drove a 2012 GT in woodland hills, the salesman was SUPER nice, i clearly stated I had no intention to buy that day (as i've been driving every car i've ever wanted to drive lately, so i can decide whole heartily, plus i have an unlimited time frame now!)

It was a small dealership, only had 8 mustang GTs, but man they impressed the heck out of me with how straight they were about everything, including pricing/finance/etc.

Nissan OC was a bitch about letting me test drive a used GTR though...asked me for a pay stub!!!
