Not true. They usually dont put the cones coming ontopit lane that ar out and they leave the cones on the outside on 17 and 18 farther. It lets would let you take a wider line and pick up a few MPH for the front straight. NASA leaves them wider because they allow a smoother transition to the front straight, but NASA also runs the kink on the inside straight (until someone takes one for the team and hits the cone).
