You can't reach them from the top with a wrench? That's how I have always done it. I'm trying to remember back to when I removed the engine and trans on my nephews '97 Mustang if I was able to do that. Is the bell housing part of the trans or does it bolt on separately? The T5 in the Cobra had a separate bell housing so I could remove 4 bolts and separate them. I had to do that once when the top bolts just wouldn't budge. Once I removed the trans I was able to use a short extension on an impact gun to remove the bell housing.
