Really? Dodge produced a strict race car?

I'm sure a lot of the modded ones driving around could. But yeah, I'd rather do it in your car.

I had for a brief time a Chrysler New Port. It was absolutely mint, single owner, all original. Looked quite a bit like this, but brown. That thing was the best fwy car I've ever driven. You could steer it with your pinky. At 80mph you felt like you were just floating on a cloud. The back seat was a lounge.

Yes. I was only talking the Dart compact there. Back in 62 the Dart was a full size street car that came with a 361 ci--but the 413 Crossram showed up in them.

There were a few other rare strictly build for race cars by all the the Big Three back them. The most famous are--the Super Duty Pontiacs, The Z11 427 "B" bodied Chevy and (of course) the Ford Thunderbolts.

Starting in 61 the move to smaller (and lighter) mid size cars started with dropping in SD 421 V8s by Pontiac into the Tempest.

The move to smaller cars came because Mopar was building uniti-bodied full size vehicles that were 200 to 400 lbs lighter than GM or Ford.

Every hear of the Swiss Cheese Pontiacs built in 61 and 62?

Back in the day, little Ben, Pontiac had an unofficial race group. They used to meet secretly to build the Super Duty Pontiac's for drag racing. Well, my little one, they were getting beat by the lighter Mopars. So to get the weight down on their piggy "B" bodies they drilled large holes ( with a hole saw ) in the frame and other body parts. So when they were done the underside of the vehicle looked like Swiss cheese,

Also a lot of body and engine parts were made out of aluminum. The most infamous was the aluminum exhaust manifolds that left a puddle of aluminum on the track when staging.

Now I'm kinda thinking I'd like to change my vote. Hennessey.

I think I like the 1st gens better in person, but the 2nd gens are more photogenic.

Yeah, 1st gen. Definitely 1st gen, with the hatchback.
