As far as I know Chevrolet never put rally stripes on the roof! Thats a Ford thing! So I guess you go both ways even more than you thought.

Well it's kind of hard to put stripes on the hood when I don't have one. It would have looked really dumb if I just put them on the trunk.

Flat black needs to be done with a flattening agent in the clear. Very hard to do it right, so I hear. I'd like to try it sometime.

Who cares? Chevy never did a flat black Chevelle either. It's an aesthetic thing.
And, Ford used 7.5" stripes, while Ron used 7" stripes, so it is very clearly not a Ford thing.
