I've NEVER doubted it is a great vehicle. I'm, actually, leaning that way. The issue is 5'4" Darlene. She needs to be comfortable with the vehicle. On just that point the 427R has the Camaro beat ( for Darlene anyway).

The more I see and sit in the Camaro the better I like it. I'm a FORD guy since I was born (many many moons ago). I drove a brand new 69 SS 350 in 69 and it was a pig. I drove a 69 Z28 and was disappointed. I drove a brand new 70 Boss 302 was was very impressed. I've owned a 66 Shelby GT 350. Loved that car! Road in a 65 AC Cobra 289 factory dual quad car and was ruined for any other vehicle. That Cobra was the high point of any vehicle I've ridden in!

But through all the cars I've owned I kept the 64 Vette. So... the point; who the HELL knows????????

When you pay 40,000 or over you try to get it right the first time.


As far as the issue of GM taking our money--yes that is important to me. It is not to Darlene.... But, SEX is important to me. So......

Honest Opinion:

Given the choice between a new Camaro SS or a used Roush, I'd take the new Camaro. Next year with the Mustang getting a much needed power bump my opinion would probably change. I think the Mustang is an easier daily driver with better sight lines and a more user friendly interior.

If I had the cash right now though and had to buy something before the end of the year I would buy a Camaro SS - no question about it.

Did some research on the 2008 ROUSH 427R;

It runs about 12.50s in the quarter
There were only about 200 to be built---this is pre-production number
They are selling 45,000 back down to 39,000 at this time.


The 5 speed Automatic is a very strong trans.


All the road tests gave it rave reviews. All liked it very much.


Any one got $80,000 so I can get the GT 500 and be done with this--I will pay you back.


Damn this just makes it harder.

Fast and Rare: 2008 Roush Mustang 428R
September 24, 2007

It seems the world is full of performance-tuned Mustangs these days. True, Ford's fifth-generation Mustang has revitalized the model with much of the same enthusiasm that the original car has been receiving for the past 40-odd years, but nevertheless, to get any attention in the hopped-up Mustang game today, you've got to have something significant.


Enter Roush's new 428R.

Roush is no stranger to building a mean Mustang. Having been in the business for 12 years and still riding high on their most successful model ever, the 427R, Roush has decided the time is right to follow up with a limited-production model; a car for the true enthusiast. And that's exactly where the 428R comes into play.

Each 428R will be pumping out a heady 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque - that's 8 more horses and 9 more lb-ft than the 427R. Under the hood, a chrome powerdercoated Roushcharger can be found, and billet radiator, oil, intercooler, and strut tower caps are all thrown in for good measure. A performance exhaust system not only frees up the last few horses, but also ensures the 428R has the bark to back up its bite. A five-speed manual or automatic transmission sends the power to the rear wheels.

When the road gets twisty, Roush has the 428R covered there as well. Nearly the entire suspension has been revamped with the addition of firmer shocks, springs, and sway bars both front and rear. Jounce bumpers and anti-wheel hop kits have also been fitted, while 18-inch Roush wheels with high-performance tires are included as standard.

Cosmetically, there's no mistaking the 428R for anything that comes straight out of the Ford factory. A redesigned front fascia and chin spoiler, gaping hood scoop, and rear lip spoiler all suggest this is no ordinary 'Stang. Of course, the special Roush decals, hood pins, and black high-flow grille are present to lay the last bit of doubt to rest. Inside the 428R, a Roush leather sports steering wheel, short throw shifter with retro ball knob, and white electroluminescent gauge panel finish off the car's aggressive image.

All Roush 428Rs will be 2008 models and will hit showrooms beginning this October. Of course, only 200 will be built. Word to the wise: If you want one, get it quick.

The Roush is a fantastic car. It doesn't run quite as fast as you quoted though. I've read of real world 1/4 mile runs of between 12.8 to 13.1. I have also heard it handles wonderfully and it's obviously an eye catcher.

The Camaro is also fantastic. I've seen L99 cars putting down around 318 to 330ish rwhp. According to this list - the fastest stock L99 car is running high 12's at 108mph.

I don't know dude - I think it's a coinflip. It's total preference because both cars are great.
