Default SBC 350 Question

So if I have a 1977 Chevy with a 350 motor and 350 trans and i lost my dipstick. Can i just pull any dipstick from a pre 80's 350 small block? I'm trying to go to a pick a part tomorrow because I don't like not being to check my oil. Help please!

It should be ok...I got a chrome, china made one at pepboys and it worked great. It just said 5.7 Chevy ..no year on package. I know 5qts was right on the old one and the new one was the same.

I wouldn't get a chrome dipstick, they are a bitch to install. It's like a press fit but the housing it too thin to hammer in without destroying it.

Oh ok cool thanks for both the responses. I'll probably just go with whatever they have that's cheaper. Probably works the same, i don't really care about the engine being flashy. Looks like ill be off to pep boys / auto zone today. Thanks again guys!
