I've been on the Camaro kick for several years now. It was always the plan, just haven't yet had the balls to pull the trigger.

It's about aesthetics for me. I love the look of the first gen. Besides, any first gen that I would buy would have been caged and tubbed out already, so I wouldn't worry about torsional rigidity.

What's the weight difference between your current car, and a 1st gen Camaro?

Not sure, but the one's I've been looking at have all been around 2500lbs. My car now prob weighs 3000lbs, it's 3400lbs stock.

Sorry to hear of the blown gaskets. What head gasket do you have? Seems weird, but the Camaro used to be a stepping stone up to a 'Vette. Now it's the other way around.

You worry me. You want to get rid of the Vette for a Camaro. A First Gen to boot. Well, It's your life.

Hell, some people have (after mucho bucks) been able to get the first Gens to turn. But if you're only going in a straight line you should be ok.

If you do get a first Gen. I'll be here to help. Gots all kinds of up grade parts here.

I was running the ones AFR recommended, cheap crush ring Fel Pros, #1003. I'm thinking about using their MLS gaskets next time around, or maybe Cometic gaskets. With copper spray this time. I'm also thinking about taking my 9.4:1 down to 9:1.

Any advice?
